My 2 paintings are from places I've hiked in northern New Jersey.<br /></p><p>The show is:</p><p style="text-align: center;"><b><i>The 10th Annual Highlands Art Exhibit</i></b><br />organized by the <a href="https://njhighlandscoalition.org/" target="_blank">New Jersey Highlands Coalition</a><br />October 20 – November 26, 2023<br />at<br /><b>The <a href="https://morrismuseum.org/" target="_blank">Morris Museum</a>, a Smithsonian Affiliate</b><br /><span>6 Normandy Park Rd, Morristown, NJ</span><br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"><br />This first panting is a view from Bowling Green Mountain near Jefferson, NJ. As for myself, I continue to paint landscapes inspired by the forests
and parks that I love exploring.
Bodies of water are always fascinating, whether a raging river or a calm
lake - they're a great source of inspiration, but oh what a challenge
to paint. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAA6137Kbk5gFaDze7EJxPR_n45Tzmsmo65FvLcAqDssxMArLLQhU_LjUKCFtXLqCvqp0Uw8l05xBU_Zc-EauIhE6AFq9JHnLgpHD-rv-eBubIB0RbCZS_p_2y1JKB5isDhbD94fDovXQVgafdBuwnZfeGBX8dXlC_uG_0wdCuqsd9jXxNjw/s850/water_works.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="425" data-original-width="850" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAA6137Kbk5gFaDze7EJxPR_n45Tzmsmo65FvLcAqDssxMArLLQhU_LjUKCFtXLqCvqp0Uw8l05xBU_Zc-EauIhE6AFq9JHnLgpHD-rv-eBubIB0RbCZS_p_2y1JKB5isDhbD94fDovXQVgafdBuwnZfeGBX8dXlC_uG_0wdCuqsd9jXxNjw/w400-h200/water_works.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Joe Kazimierczyk

<p>
This is a first for me - I'm doing a talk about my work at
<a href="https://www.morven.org/" target="_blank">Morven Museum</a>
along with
<a href="http://www.beatricebork.com/" target="_blank">Beatrice Bork</a>. Bea
and I have been friends for years and have done a number of shows together.
Now we're teaming up for this talk.
<br />
<br />
This was originally planned to take place at Morven last year, but due the
pandemic, delays, and rescheduling, it's now taking place online via Zoom.
<br />
<br />
We'll both be showing paintings that we've done over the years, while
talking about our influences, inspirations and approaches to art. There will
be a Q&A at the end for any questions that you might have.
<br />
<br />
The talk will be on Wednesday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m.
<br />More information and a link to register can be found
<a href="https://www.morven.org/an-evening-with-joe-kazimierczyk-and-beatrice-bork" target="_blank"><b>HERE</b></a>
on the Museum website.
<br />
<br />We hope that you can join us!

paints with such exquisite detail and sensitivity to composition. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LeVI6HGvdBE/X3tfqGdNd2I/AAAAAAAAQZo/ezHBA9WVp54hRByMzAAJXH-H-ESCEqHiwCLcBGAsYHQ/s900/yggdrasil.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="900" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LeVI6HGvdBE/X3tfqGdNd2I/AAAAAAAAQZo/ezHBA9WVp54hRByMzAAJXH-H-ESCEqHiwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/yggdrasil.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Joe Kazimierczyk

<p></p><p></p><p>Most of my painting titles are self-explanatory but this one needs a little explaining.
This is one very impressive tree.
It's trunk is marked with so many wrinkles and scars, it feels really ancient.
I was reminded of some comments I heard about my earlier tree paintings,
and someone had mentioned Yggdrasil -
in Norse mythology, Yggdrasil is an immense mythical tree at the center of the cosmos
where it connects the Nine Worlds. The gods visit Yggdrasil daily.
This tree is Yggdrasil. I am sure of it. (What a strange year it's been).
<br />
<br />
This is the most work that I will have on display at any one time this year,
so I hope you get a chance to stop by and see the show.
Due to the pandemic, there is no opening reception, but otherwise the gallery
is open it's normal hours. If you need to see the show outside of normal
gallery hours, please let me know and we can arrange something.

and exhibitions canceled or rescheduled due to the pandemic.

<br />
I was very happy to be one of 4 artists included in this exhibit at D&R
Greenway, but the state went into lock down the week that the show was hung.
The end date was extended a few times in hope that the show could eventually open,
but alas... it's the longest running show I've ever been in,
but no one has been able to see it!

This November I'm teaming up with Joseph Zogorski for a 2-man
at
<a href="https://www.lambertvillearts.com/" target="_blank">Artists' Gallery</a>
in Lambertville, NJ.
Joe Zogorski is a photographer and I think his black and white nature photography works really well with my landscape paintings.<br />
<br />

<br />
'Quietude' is defined as the state of peacefulness; stillness;
tranquility. Joe and I both find our inspiration in the quiet and
serenity of the world around us, and I think our work is the embodiment
of quietude.
<br />
<br />
My inspiration continues to come primarily from the hikes I take as I
explore the woodlands and mountains of north Jersey, and in this show I
have a strong theme of rivers and streams. I never really plan a theme
for my shows and I usually don't even realize that I have a theme until I
step back and look at the new work I've done. This year I've definitely
been fascinated by rivers and streams.
<br />
<br />
Joe Zogorski's nature photography focuses on the remaining rural
countryside of Bucks County, PA and nearby parts of New Jersey. The
lives of his ancestors and their stories of living in a community
closely tied to the land help to inform his image making.<br />
<br />
This is the most work that I will have on display at any one time this
year, so I hope you get a chance to stop by and experience some
quietude.

<br />
Recently, almost all of my inspiration for painting comes from the hikes that I've been doing around northern New Jersey and southern New York state. The <a href="https://www.nynjtc.org/" target="_blank">New York-New Jersey Trail Conference</a> is the organization that builds and maintains so many of the trails that I enjoy using. They built the first section of the Appalachian Trail in 1923 and have been going strong ever since.<br />
<br />
The Trail Conference is having a group art exhibition titled <i>"Winter Trek"</i> at their headquarters in the historic Darlington Schoolhouse<i>.</i> The show features artwork celebrating winter scenes along their trails.<br />
<br />
The show runs January 11 - March 5, 2019<br />
Opening reception: January 17, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.<br />
At: Trail Conference Headquarters, <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/xy1fH2GCWq22" target="_blank">600 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah, NJ</a><br />
To attend the opening reception, <a href="https://www.nynjtc.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=9945" target="_blank">please register here</a>.<br />
<br />
If you go to see the show, there's some good hiking at Ramapo Valley County Reservation, adjacent to the Trail Conference headquarters<br />
<br />
Here are the 2 pieces I have in the show, both are December scenes at <a href="https://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/stephens.html" target="_blank">Stephens State Park</a> in northern New Jersey:<br />

<br />
My work in this show focuses on 2 main locations: the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area,
which I never tire of exploring, and the Sourland Mountain much closer
to home - literally my back yard.
<br />
<br />
Mike Schweigart's work shows more signs of civiliation, as he paints scenes
along the back roads of coastal Maine, eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
I think I'm more of a wanderer, Mike is more of a wonderer.
Together, I think we put on a good show.

This winter we're doing something a little bit different at Artists' Gallery.
Instead of our traditional group show with all 16 artists, we're featuring 4 artists each
month over a 4 month period.
In January I will be one of the featured artists along with
<a href="http://beatricebork.artspan.com/" target="_blank">Beatrice Bork</a>,
<a href="http://maxineshore.com/" target="_blank">Maxine Shore</a> and
<a href="http://billjersey.artspan.com/" target="_blank">Bill Jersey</a>.
<br />
<br />
I'll have a mix of older and newer work, with some new things I've been trying
recently. I hope you get a chance to stop by and see the show.<br />
