"Inspiring Places" - the art of Joe Kazimierczyk and Carol Sanzalone

"Inspiring Places"
a 2-person show with Joe Kazimierczyk and Carol Sanzalone
at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville, NJ

August 4 - September 5, 2016

Opening Reception: Saturday, August 6, 4-7 pm
Closing Reception: Sunday, September 4, 3-6 pm

This August, I'm teaming up with Carol Sanzalone for our 2nd show together at Artists' Gallery. This is my big show for the year and I hope you can stop by to see it.

I've always considered painting to be a natural extension of my exploration of the countryside. In the past couple of years I've renewed my interest in hiking and getting a bit more remote. In this show, my Inspiring Places are scenes from these hiking trips. Locations include the Delaware Water Gap, other North Jersey parks, and a bit further afield in the Catskills and Adirondack Mountains.

"Upper Ausable Lake"
in the Adirondack Mountains
12x24" oil on canvas

Gone are the barns and country roads that I paint so often, they're replaced by mountains in this show. But I have to confess there will be a couple of paintings with roads, I guess I just can't help myself. I'm still painting with oils in a style of traditional realism, it's only the locale that's changed.

"Neversink Morning Mist"
in the Catskill Mountains
11x14" oil on canvas

Carol Sanzalone, my partner in this show, paints in watercolor and acrylic. With an interest in the graphic qualities of shadows and light, she takes a very creative approach to her subjects.

"Inspiring Places" runs August 4 through September 5, 2016 with an opening reception on Saturday, August 6, 4-7 pm at:
Artists' Gallery
18 Bridge Street
Lambertville, NJ
[map & directions]
Gallery hours: Thursday through Sunday 11am-6pm

We will also have a Closing Reception on the final Sunday of the show, September 4, from 3-6 pm

We hope you can join us!

Solo Show at Bell's Tavern

I'm happy to be exhibiting my work at Bell's Tavern Dining Room once again.  I am showing 14 paintings, a mix of earlier pieces and more recent work.

The show runs March 3 through May 4, 2016 at:

Bell's Tavern
183 North Union Street
Lambertville, NJ 08530
[map & directions]

Please note that Bell's has dinner and evening hours only:
Mon-Thurs 6pm-9:30pm, Fri & Sat 5pm-10pm, Sun 5pm-9pm

Here are a few of the paintings I have on display (click for larger):

"Blue Heron Farm"
12x24" oil on canvas

"Canal Bridge"
11x14 oil on panel

"Bell's Mills"
8x10" oil on linen on panel

About my painting "Bell's Mills", I don't know what the name of this mill really is or was.  It's on the South Branch of the Raritan River at Neshanic Station, NJ.  But an 1860 map in the township library shows a town called Bell's Mills at this location, and no mention of Neshanic Station.  So Bell's Mills seemed a good title.
