Sourland Music Festival - Looking North

Today is the 8th Annual Sourland Music Festival and Silent Auction, Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 4-11 pm.

A giclee of my painting "Looking North" will be one of the items available in the silent auction.  This scene is on Longhill Road on the north slope of the Sourland Mountain, a short walk from my home, so I thought it would be appropriate for this event.

The Music Festival if a fund-raiser for the Sourland Planning Council - a non-profit organization working to protect the ecological integrity, historical resources and special character of the Sourland Mountain region.

Besides the musical lineup, there will be food vendors and tables where local artists and craftsmen will show their wares.  Should be fun - bring your own chair or blanket, and something to protect you from the sun (it's held in an open field).  More information available on the Sourland Music Festival website.

Local Landscapes at Bell's Tavern

From July 5 through August 31st, 2011, I'll be showing my local landscape paintings at Bell's Tavern in Lambertville, NJ - a mix of older and newer work, large and small, about 14 pieces in total.

Bell's remains my favorite place to eat in town and they have a long tradition of exhibiting artwork by local artists. Their food is great, prices very reasonable and a good selection of beers on tap. I hope you get a chance to stop by:

Best in Show for Painting at Artsbridge 17

Artsbridge is the Lambertville / New Hope area's premier arts organization and each year they run one of the best juried shows in the region.   Their 17th annual juried show is taking place now, and my painting was awarded best in show for painting.  Awards were also given out for best in other media categories, and one overall best in show.

Opening reception is Saturday, June 11, 6pm - 9pm.

The sunset really made this scene a grand view, but the road is actually named Grandview Road - it's between Skillman and Belle Mead, NJ.

In The Moment - 10 painters, 1 farm

"In the Moment" - 10 artists, 1 farm:  Over the past several months, 10 plein air painters were invited to paint at Glen Oaks Farm in Bucks County.  I was one of those 10 and "In the Moment" is the exhibit of the work that we created. The show runs May 1-28, 2011 at:

Glen Oaks Farm is a beautiful place with a classic old Bucks County stone house, a pond, acres of trees, shrubs and fields, an old lime kiln built into the hillside... but I was fascinated by the big old rambling barn and that's what I painted each time I visited the farm.   These are the 4 paintings I have in the show - 4 views of the same barn:

The scene in my painting is looking north on the towpath near Washington Crossing Park at Titusville, NJ.   The bridge across the Delaware River is just beyond the left edge of the painting.  The backside of Faherty's Pub would be visible across the canal on the right, but I left it out of this painting - Faherty's is better for beer than for painting.
