Farms, Farm Lanes, Sycamore Trees

It's been a while since I've posted anything here so I'll show you a few recent works. I have been painting a lot, but I'm just now catching up on photographing my work. These are from 2 places I paint often, and one new place I just found yesterday:

"Hay Fields"
8x10 oil on panel

The hay fields are at Otto's Farm Park, just around the corner, less than 2 miles from my house. I've painted this same view before but the clouds were interesting this day and I also liked the farm carts out there.

"Howell Farm Lane"
11x14 oil on panel

Howell Farm is another place I paint often since there's a lot of good subject matter to be found here. There are miles of these split rail fences but it's the first time I've gotten around to painting them. Since this is a working farm / museum where they preserve the old ways, the hay field behind me was being cut by a reaper/binder pulled by a team of 3 horses. It always feels like such a time warp here and you'll never see any modern farm equipment in these fields.

"Sycamore Lane"
11x14 oil on panel

This lane of sycamore trees is at Greenway Meadows near Princeton, NJ. It's a park right behind the D&R Greenway's Marie L. Matthews Gallery where I was in a show last year entitled "The Road Not Taken". I'd been meaning to explore this park every since that show - it only took my 9 months to get around to it, but I'm glad I did because this lane lined by sycamores was magical.
