It's time for the annual Small Works show at Canal Frame-Crafts Gallery, and I'll have a few pieces on display.  The show begins this weekend with an opening reception on Sunday, Nov 3, 2024, from 1-4 pm at:

My painting is a scene from a long hike I took in the Ramapo Mountains.  The scenery was spectacular, magical, and inspiring, but at a certain point, I realized just how far I had to go to get back to my car.   That gave me the title "Miles to Go".  As tiring as it was, (hiking in snow is very tiring,) I enjoyed every minute out there.

Bell's Tavern: Recent Work

I am showing my paintings at Bell's Tavern in Lambertville, NJ from September 4 through the end of October, 2013. I show here pretty regularly and always try to bring in fresh work, so I'll have 14 recent paintings on display, none of which I've hung at Bell's before.

Lambertville Shad Festival & Sharing the Moment

This weekend is the 31st Annual Shad Festival in Lambertville, taking place Saturday & Sunday, April 28 & 29.   The festival features artists, crafters, lots of food and family entertainment.

Artists' Gallery will be open 11am-6pm as usual Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  If you're in town for Shad Fest, be sure to stop in and see my show "Sharing the Moment", running now through May 6.   Here are a few winter scenes that I have in the show:

The scene in my painting is looking north on the towpath near Washington Crossing Park at Titusville, NJ.   The bridge across the Delaware River is just beyond the left edge of the painting.  The backside of Faherty's Pub would be visible across the canal on the right, but I left it out of this painting - Faherty's is better for beer than for painting.

My painting of Prallsville Mills in winter will be part of this year's "Images of the Mills" annual juried show at Prallsville Mills in Stockton, NJ, just north of town on Rt 29 (map & directions).  As always, this show features images of the Prallsville Mills complex and the immediate surrounding area.  This year it's being held in the newly renovated Sawmill Gallery.

Opening reception is this Friday, Aug 6, from 5-8pm.

Show dates:  Friday, August 6, 2010 from 5 to 8pm;  Saturday, August 7, 2010 to Sunday August 29, 2010: open Fridays to Sundays, noon to 5pm; also available to be seen during docent tours, Mondays to Thursdays, 1 to 4pm.

6th Annual Hillsborough Art Exhibition

My painting "Rainbow Run Winter" will be in the Hillsborough Cultural and Arts Commission's 6th Annual Art Exhibition.  That confuses me a bit because last year's show was billed as the 4th Annual - I wonder what happened to the 5th?   Hillsborough is the Township that I live in and I selected this painting because it's a Hillsborough Township scene.    The farm is named Rainbow Run Farm after the little creek you see in the foreground, it's on Rainbow Hill Road near Clover Hill, NJ.   I keep looking for rainbows there and someday I'll see one!

Artsbridge Members Show

Artsbridge is the Lambertville / New Hope area arts organization dedicated to improving the public understanding of the arts, and this is the annual show of it's members works. My painting in the show is a sunset over a farm lane off of Hollow Rd, near Skillman, NJ - just a few miles from where I live.

Note that the reception for this show was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb 6 but due to predictions of heavy snowfall that day, it's been rescheduled for Friday Feb 12. Weather permitting, the show will be open to the public on Sunday Feb 7.

Winter on the Towpath

This scene is on the D&R Canal towpath at Washington Crossing Park, NJ.   I love snow scenes but don't paint very many because we usually don't get much snow around here.   Some winters, we get no snow at all, or else it melts soon after it falls.  Last weekend we had almost 12 inches of snow here but today, six days later, there's barely a trace of it left on the ground.  At least the snow lasted until Christmas, and that was nice.  Oh well, I did get a lot of photos after last weekend's snowstorm and I can work from those for a while.   I love painting outdoors in the summer, but in the middle of winter when it's 20°F outside... photographs can be very useful!
