And old barn on the Folusiak Farm, Montgomery Twp near Blawenberg, NJ.   The property is owned by Montgomery Twp and is preserved open space.  Looks can be deceiving, and the barn is pretty sturdy - a farmer still cuts hay in these fields and fills the old barn to the ceiling with hay bales every year.

I've painted this group of barns pretty often, and the cows that are usually out in this field.  But the cows weren't out today so I concentrated on the barns.  It's an active dairy farm at the corner of Amwell Rd (Rt 514) and Cider Mill Road near Clover Hill, NJ.

This field is on Woodfern Road near Neshanic Station, NJ.  I love skies like this and the rows of greenery really pulled me into the scene.

I consider myself fortunate to be surrounded by such great scenery, here in central New Jersey!

The Neshanic River in springtime, at Montgomery Road, Hillsborough Twp, near Neshanic Station, NJ.    In this scene, I'm standing on the river bank.

This winter scene is of the same spot on the Neshanic River, but from the Montgomery Road bridge over the river.   Moving the viewpoint 25 feet higher makes a bigger difference in the scene than the change of seasons does.

Bull's Island - Two Interpretations

"Sunshine & Joy", my show with Doug Sardo, continues through June 30, 2013 at Artists' Gallery, 18 Bridge St, Lambertville, NJ.   Of all the paintings we have in the show, there is only one subject in common - the pedestrian suspension bridge at Bull's Island Recreation Area.

I thought it would be interesting to show how two different artists interpret the same subject, so here is my version done in oils, followed by Doug Sardo's version painted with pastels:

For the month of June, I'm teaming up with Doug Sardo in a show that celebrates the sense of joy found in the sunlit places of this region. This will be my biggest show of 2013 and I'll have about 20 oil paintings on display - my usual local landscapes including a number of new works.  In contrast to my oil paintings, Doug works in pastels - we both paint colorful landscapes but I think the contrast in media and styles will make for a very good show.
