I'm happy to be exhibiting with watercolorist Beatrice Bork once again in Under the Same Sky, a show of our nature-inspired paintings.

While Beatrice paints the "who" — the birds and animals of our forests, I paint the "where" — woodland paths, mountain streams, and expansive skies.

Footsteps - Journeys Near and Far

"Footsteps - Journeys Near & Far"
a 2-person show with Joe Kazimierczyk and Ilya Raskin

at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville, NJ

July 10 - August 3, 2025
Opening Reception: Saturday, July 12, 5-7 pm

This year I'm teaming up with photographer Ilya Raskin in "Footsteps - Journeys Near and Far".

Ilya is a world traveler whose photography captures the drama and grace of life around the globe, from landscapes and wildlife to the people who inhabit some of the most awe-inspiring places on Earth.

My own work brings the focus closer to home. I continue to find inspiration in the parks and preserves of northern New Jersey, painting quiet forests, waterfalls, and winding trails where the familiar still offers surprise.

Joe Kazimierczyk
"Autumn in the Pequannock"
oil on linen, 7 x 11"

This show is all about the paths we take and the beauty we find along the way. Whether it's the far reaches of the Arctic or a sunlit stream just a few miles from home, every journey is an adventure.

Harmony Brookside Solo Show

From May 6 through June 28 I'll be exhibiting my landscape paintings in a solo show at Harmony Brookside Gift Shop & Gallery, a new venue for me in Mendham, NJ. The exhibition includes a range of subject matter from quiet farm scenes to the mountains of north Jersey.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30am to 5pm. More details can be found at harmonybrookside.com

I hope you’ll stop in and have a look. It’s a welcoming space, and I’m glad to be part of this season’s exhibition schedule.

When you're in the area, there are some good hiking options nearby - Jockey Hollow (great for history buffs), Lewis Morris Park (a bit more rugged than Jockey Hollow), and Dismal Harmony Natural Area (don't be fooled by that name).

Harmony Brookside Gifts & Gallery is located at 2 East Main Street, Brookside, (Mendham Township), NJ 07926, right next to the Brookside Post Office.

The Tulpehaking Nature Center is one of the main entrances to the Abbott Marshlands, and you should explore the trails when you come to see our show - Beatrice tells me it's a good place for bird watching. The marsh is rich in wildlife and Native American history, and the name "Tulpehaking" means "Land of the Turtle" in the language of the Lenape.

For me, this location has a personal connection - as a kid, I used to play down here and I remember fishing in the lake with my father. Back then, we called it White City Lake. If you grew up in the area, you might remember that name too. While none of my paintings in the show depict the Abbott Marshlands specifically, many of them focus on water-themed scenes like rivers and lakes.

We hope you can stop by, see the show, and explore a bit!

This June, I'm teaming up with Jane Adriance for our first joint exhibition, "Beyond Boundaries". The show will feature Jane's abstracted realities alongside my landscape-inspired realities. I think our paintings both complement and contrast with each other nicely.

Jane creates semi-abstract oils where reality and imagination seamlessly intertwine. I continue to focus on nature's quiet, less traveled places, and in this show, I include several skyscapes and river scenes - two motifs that I revisit often.

Highlands Art Exhibit at the Morris Museum

I'm happy to say that I have 2 paintings in this year's Highlands Art Exhibit, a show that celebrates the natural beauty of the Highlands Region, which stretches from Connecticut through New York and New Jersey, to Pennsylvania.  My 2 paintings are from places I've hiked in northern New Jersey.

The show is:

The 10th Annual Highlands Art Exhibit
organized by the New Jersey Highlands Coalition
October 20 – November 26, 2023
at
The Morris Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate
6 Normandy Park Rd, Morristown, NJ

This first panting is a view from Bowling Green Mountain near Jefferson, NJ.  It's overlooking Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, a Morris County park.  This scene is pretty typical of the ridge-top views on many hiking trails in north Jersey.

"Kittatinny Summer"
Joe Kazimierczyk
12 x 24" oil on canvas

My other painting in the show is from a winter hike around Merrill Creek Reservoir in Warren County.  It's not a difficult hike but it's pretty interesting and I've seen eagles over the lake on occasion.

"Winter Trek"
Joe Kazimierczyk
11 x 14" oil on canvas

"Winter at Eagle Lake"
oil on linen on board, 6 x 16"

Beatrice is an award winning watercolorist and wildlife artist with a particular interest in birds.

As for myself, I continue to paint landscapes inspired by the forests and parks that I love exploring. Bodies of water are always fascinating, whether a raging river or a calm lake - they're a great source of inspiration, but oh what a challenge to paint.

Opening Reception: Fri. Jan. 13, 5:30 - 8:30
Closing Reception: Sun, Feb. 26, 2:00 - 5:00

My painting is a scene from a long hike I took in the Ramapo Mountains.  The scenery was spectacular, magical, and inspiring, but at a certain point, I realized just how far I had to go to get back to my car.   That gave me the title "Miles to Go".  As tiring as it was, (hiking in snow is very tiring,) I enjoyed every minute out there.

I'm still spending a lot of time in the woods, and that's where all my inspiration comes from these days. Half of the paintings that I have in this show are scenes very close to my home on the Sourland Mountain, the rest are a bit further north in the mountains of north Jersey.

On a personal note, I've recently joined the board of trustees at the Sourland Conservancy, where I'll be working to help preserve the unique character of this area.

Ellarslie Open 39

Joe Kazimierczyk
"Mirror Pool"
7x14 oil on board

My painting "Mirror Pool" will be this year's Ellarslie Open at Ellarslie, the Trenton City Museum.  This is one of the best juried shows in the region and I'm happy to be part of it this year.

The exhibition runs June 25 to October 2, 2022.

Artists and Members Reception: Saturday, June 25, 1-5 pm, awards announced at 4pm.  $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

Public Reception:  Sunday, June 26, 1-4 pm, free admission for all

Now about that title... mirror pools are very still, reflective bodies of water and I know that's not what I depict here.  But it's the first thing that came to mind and I think it's a good title for this painting, so I stand by it.
